Urban retail water suppliers are required to submit a registry of breaks, repairs and estimated water losses to the State Water Resources Control Board every three years.
Water systems will submit all specified information to the State Water Resources Control no later than January 1, 2029. The collection of all required information for repaired leaks will start on July 1, 2026 and continue through 2027 and beyond. Prior to July 1, 2026, water systems will only be able to report readily available information about their repaired leaks. The Division will assess compliance with the submission and validation of all repaired leak data starting from July 1, 2026.
