The CII Customer Classification Guide is intended to help conservation staff re-classify their CII accounts per the Long Term Framework (SB 606/AB1668) Performance Measures by June 30, 2027 (per proposed regulations May 20, 2024). Specifically, the Performance Measures require that all urban retail water suppliers classify their CII accounts in accordance with Energy Star Portfolio Manager categories (plus four additional). The Classification Guide outlines practical steps suppliers can take to successfully reclassify their CII accounts including cross-walking between NAICS codes and the Energy Star categories. The guide features four supplier case-studies that have reclassified their accounts and includes tips for tackling “stumpers” – CII accounts that do not obviously fit into any category.
