UWUO Reporting Form and CalWEP Resources Now Available

Published: October 24, 2024

We’re excited to share some updates and new resources to support your agency's efforts in completing the annual Urban Water Use Objective report. The following are now available:

A huge thank you to both State Water Board and DWR staff for collaborating with CalWEP on our new resources and for all their effort getting the reporting form out into the world!

1) State Water Board's Urban Water Use Objective Reporting Form Now AvailableAnchor
Urban retail water suppliers must submit the Urban Water Use Objective Reporting Form by January 1, 2025, and annually thereafter. The reporting form and accompanying guidance document are now available on DWR's Water Use Efficiency Data Portal's Resources for Urban Water Suppliers page. You can download the reporting form and guidance here

  • Note: The residential outdoor budget is currently showing a calculated total value of 0 gallons. This is because the 2023-2024 annual service area weighted-average weather data from DWR is still pending; the table on the Open Data Portal currently contains blank fields. State Water Board will send a notification once that data has been uploaded; please be sure to refresh the data tables in the reporting form when that happens.
  • Additionally, the report submission webpage on the WUE Data Portal is still being developed; please do not submit your report until the webpage has been completed.

2) CalWEP Resource: UWUO Reporting Contact List
CalWEP has created a new resource to assist you in collecting data and submitting your UWUO reports. The UWUO Reporting Contact List provides a comprehensive directory of agency staff responsible for overseeing specific data portions required in the report, including contact details to streamline communication. This resource ensures that your questions and reports are directed to the right people. Download the contact list here.

3) CalWEP Resource: UWUO Alternative Data Process and Requirements
CalWEP is also offering a detailed guide on the UWUO Alternative Data Process. This resource, accepted by DWR and State Water Board, outlines the steps and requirements for agencies that need to submit alternative data or provide additional information beyond the standard reporting process. Download the guidance document here.

We hope these updates and resources help you navigate the UWUO reporting process. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
