New Variance Estimator Tool Now Available – A Joint Release by CaDC and CalWEP
We’re excited to announce the release of the Variance Estimator Tool, developed in collaboration between the California Data Collaborative (CaDC) and the California Water Efficiency Partnership (CalWEP).
This tool is designed to help urban water suppliers assess what they would need to qualify for a variance under the Making Conservation a California Way of Life regulations. Using provisional data from the State Water Resources Control Board, the tool provides insights into the minimum requirements needed to meet variance thresholds, supporting informed decision-making.
The Variance Estimator offers a streamlined approach to evaluating potential variances for categories such as seasonal population, evaporative coolers, residential agriculture, dust control, and more. While it does not calculate final variance values, it helps agencies determine what data is needed and whether pursuing a variance is feasible.
