CalWEP submitted a position letter of support to the California Legislature in support of Assembly Bill 35 (AB 35), which would accelerate the implementation of voter-approved Proposition 4 funding.
AB 35 focuses on streamlining administrative processes to ensure that climate, water, park, and community resilience investments are deployed in a timely and effective manner. For water efficiency and climate adaptation projects, reducing delays between bond approval and project delivery is critical to achieving on-the-ground outcomes.
CalWEP’s support reflects the perspectives of members and partners who are actively planning and implementing water efficiency, nature-based, and climate resilience projects that depend on timely access to state funding. Delays in funding deployment can stall shovel-ready projects and undermine the environmental and public health benefits approved by voters.
Key themes highlighted in CalWEP’s support letter include:
- Accelerating access to Proposition 4 funding for climate and water projects
- Reducing administrative delays between bond approval and implementation
- Supporting timely investment in water efficiency and nature-based solutions
- Advancing climate resilience and water reliability through effective bond implementation
CalWEP appreciates the Legislature’s leadership in advancing policies that support efficient and coordinated infrastructure investment and looks forward to continued collaboration to translate California’s climate commitments into meaningful, on-the-ground results.
