Dr. Jerry Meral will keynote the Partnership's December all member meeting speaking to members about his proposal for a water bond that includes water conservation funding. Dr. Meral has served as Deputy Director of the California Department of Water Resources, as Western Water Resources Director of the Environmental Defense Fund, and for 20 years as Executive Director of the Planning and Conservation League.

California Data Collaborative (CaWD)'s Second Annual Water Data Summit took place August 24-25th at Stanford Graduate School of Business. This two-day event featured interactive panels on how big water data integration is supporting water managers in California.

Mary Ann Dickinson of the California Water Efficiency Partnership and the Alliance for Water Efficiency chaired Thursday's Breakout Session from 1:30pm-3:00pm and addressed the Outdoor Water Savings Research Initiative. CalWEP's Lisa Cuellar spoke about Sustainable Landscaping ROI Tools.

Brown Bag Lunch: A Watershed Approach to California Landscapes

The watershed approach is a natural approach to landscape design, construction, and maintenance that transcends water-use efficiency to address related benefits such as rainwater capture; reduction of pollution, energy, and landscape costs; and human and wildlife habitat improvements.  

Please join us for a brown bag lunch in collaboration with the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, California Chapter (, on the Watershed Approach to California Landscapes. We will view a short film that emphasizes the importance of permeable landscapes in protecting watershed health.  

Following that, Paul Herzog of the Surfrider Foundation ( will expand on the topic and describe California’s new Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance.
