Brown Bag Lunch: A Watershed Approach to California Landscapes


The watershed approach is a natural approach to landscape design, construction, and maintenance that transcends water-use efficiency to address related benefits such as rainwater capture; reduction of pollution, energy, and landscape costs; and human and wildlife habitat improvements.  

Please join us for a brown bag lunch in collaboration with the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, California Chapter (, on the Watershed Approach to California Landscapes. We will view a short film that emphasizes the importance of permeable landscapes in protecting watershed health.  

Following that, Paul Herzog of the Surfrider Foundation ( will expand on the topic and describe California’s new Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance.

CA-NV AWWA - Basic Water Loss Control Workshop - Yucaipa, CA

This Workshop organized by CA-NV section of AWWA will explain the purpose of AWWA Water Balance. The Training will outline how to calculate volumes of Water Balance, system audit data requirements and validation. Registration is handled through CA-NV AWWA.

Water Audit II Workshop - LADWP


The Council in partnership with DWR is holding 8-10 water loss workshops around California between September 2015 and March 2016. The target audience for these one-day hands-on workshops is agencies who have already completed a basic water audit course. See the water loss resources page for more information on all workshop locations and information on basic courses currently offered.  The classes will be taught by Reinhard Sturm and Kate Gasner from Water Systems Optimization.
